This page lists every key in the app and explains the command palette. Use it to look up a
key, or to learn the keys for the panel you trade in. Back to the [guide index](index.md).
Trading words are explained in the [glossary](glossary.md).

## In short

* Press `?` to see the list of keys in the app. Press `Ctrl K` or `/` to search and to run
  commands.
* **Navigation keys** work in **Safe** and in **Armed**.
* **Trading keys** act only in the panel that has focus. A key that places or cancels an
order needs **Armed**. A key that only moves a cursor or a selection works in Safe too.
* `Ctrl Shift X` (**Cancel all**) works everywhere: in Safe, in every panel and in a text
  field.
* Keys do nothing while you type in a field. Only `Ctrl K` and `Ctrl Shift X` work there.

Keys are written for Windows and Linux. On a Mac, use `⌘` for `Ctrl`, `⌥` for `Alt` and
`⇧` for `Shift`. Letter keys are written in capitals, as on the keyboard. Press them without
`Shift`, unless the table shows `Shift`.

## The basics

### Use the trading keys

1. Click **Armed** on the Safe/Armed switch.
2. Click the panel that you want to trade in: the board, a ladder, Portfolio, Orders, the
dock or the slip. You can also press `F6` until that panel has focus.
3. Press the key.

When more than one panel can take the keys, a thin line along the top of the focused panel
shows which one has them. After `F6`, the line always shows.

In Safe, a key that places or cancels an order sends nothing, and the Safe/Armed switch
flashes once. If trading is off, a toast also gives the reason. While a button has keyboard
focus, `↵` and `Space` act on that button, not on the panel.

### Search with the command palette

1. Press `Ctrl K` or `/`. You can also click the search box in the top bar, or tap
**Search** in the tab bar on a phone.
2. Type a market, event, team or league.
3. Press `↵` to open the result that is selected.

With nothing typed, the palette shows **Recent**, **Pinned**, **Held** and **Live now**,
then the commands. Results are in the groups **Markets**, **Events**, **Teams**,
**Leagues** and **Held**. Commands that match what you type show under **Commands**.

| Key | What it does |
| - | - |
| `↵` | Open the market, event, team or league, or run the command |
| `Shift ↵` | Pin the market to your Watchlist, or unpin it. Only markets can be pinned |
| `Alt ↵` | Dock the ladder of the market, event or team |
| `Esc` | Clear the text. A second `Esc` closes the palette |
| `@` as the first character | Search teams and events only |
| `#` as the first character | Search tags (leagues) only |
| `>` as the first character | Show commands only |

The commands:

| Group | Commands |
| - | - |
| **Go to** | `Go to Live`, `Go to Watchlist`, `Go to Portfolio`, `Go to Orders`, `Go to Alerts`, `Go to Settings` |
| **Positions** | `Exit Boston Celtics`: one command for each outcome you hold. The line below gives the market, the size and the exit price, for example `150 sh down to 19¢`. It sells the whole position, as **Exit** does. It needs Armed. It is greyed while the prices are stale or while there is no exit price |
| **Combos** | `Combo mode`. Also `Get quote`, while the slip holds legs or a combo to exit |
| **Settings** | `Theme: dark`, `Theme: light`, `Theme: system` |
| **Account** | `Log out` |

The **Positions** commands show only after you type `>` or a search.

## More options

Each table below is for one panel. The column **Works in** tells you if a key works in
Safe. A key marked **Armed** acts only while the switch reads Armed.

### Navigation (Safe or Armed)

These keys work in Safe and in Armed, from any page.

| Keys | What it does |
| - | - |
| `Ctrl K` | Open or close the command palette. Works in a text field too |
| `/` | Open the command palette |
| `?` | Show or hide the list of keys |
| `Esc` | Close the dialog, menu or sheet that is on top |
| `g` then `l` | Go to Live |
| `g` then `w` | Go to Watchlist |
| `g` then `p` | Go to Portfolio |
| `g` then `o` | Go to Orders |
| `g` then `a` | Go to Alerts |
| `g` then `n` | Go to Notifications |
| `g` then `s` | Go to Settings |
| `F6` | Move the focus to the next panel |
| `Shift F6` | Move the focus to the previous panel |
| `` ` `` | Show or hide the bottom dock |
| `L` | Turn combo mode on or off |
| `Q` | Get a quote for the legs in the slip, and move the focus to the slip |

Press the second key of a `g` pair less than one second after the `g`.

### Cancel all (everywhere)

| Keys | What it does |
| - | - |
| `Ctrl Shift X` | Cancel every open order. It works in Safe, in every panel and in a text field. It also declines a live combo quote |

### Any trading panel (Armed)

These keys work in every trading panel: the ladder, the board, Watchlist, the market view,
Portfolio, Orders, the dock and the slip.

| Keys | What it does | Works in |
| - | - | - |
| `1` to `6` | Pick stake preset 1 to 6 | Armed |
| `-` | Pick the previous stake preset | Armed |
| `=` | Pick the next stake preset | Armed |

### The ladder

| Keys | What it does | Works in |
| - | - | - |
| `B` | Buy your stake at the best ask | Armed |
| `S` | Sell your stake’s worth at the best bid | Armed |
| `Shift B` | Buy your stake at the best bid (join the bid) | Armed |
| `Shift S` | Sell your stake’s worth at the best ask (join the ask) | Armed |
| `F` | Exit: sell the whole position, down to the exit price | Armed |
| `H` | Hedge: buy the other outcome to fix your P\&L. If Hedge is greyed, a toast gives the reason: `Hedge not sent · …` | Armed |
| `C` | Cancel your orders in this market | Armed |
| `[` | Move the selected order one tick down. With no order selected, move your newest order | Armed |
| `]` | Move the selected order one tick up. With no order selected, move your newest order | Armed |
| `Delete`, `Backspace` | Cancel the selected order. With no order selected, cancel your newest order | Armed |
| `↵` | Act on the cell under the cursor, as a click does | Armed |
| `↑`, `↓` | Move the cursor up or down one price row | Safe and Armed |
| `←`, `→` | Move the cursor to the **Bid** cell or the **Ask** cell | Safe and Armed |
| `Alt ↵` | Set a price alert at the row of the cursor | Safe and Armed |
| `Space` | Centre the ladder on the best bid and ask | Safe and Armed |
| `Esc` | Remove the cursor | Safe and Armed |

The first arrow key puts the cursor on the best ask (`↑`, `→`) or on the best bid (`↓`,
`←`). While the cursor is on the ladder, the ladder does not centre itself.

The ladder that opens inside a Portfolio row has no keys of its own. Use the mouse there.
The keys work on a docked ladder and in the market view.

### The board, Watchlist and market view

| Keys | What it does | Works in |
| - | - | - |
| `↑`, `↓` | Move the row cursor to the previous or next outcome | Safe and Armed |
| `←`, `→` | Move the cursor to the previous or next game, or market | Safe and Armed |
| `↵` | Open the ladder of that outcome | Safe and Armed |
| `Alt ↵` | Dock the ladder of that outcome. From the market view, this goes to Live and docks it there | Safe and Armed |
| `B` | Buy at the ask, in the outcome under the cursor | Armed |
| `S` | Sell at the bid, in the outcome under the cursor | Armed |
| `C` | On the board: cancel your orders in that game. In Watchlist and the market view: cancel your orders in the market under the cursor | Armed |
| `Space` | In combo mode only: use the outcome as a leg, or remove it | Safe and Armed |

In combo mode, `B` and `S` do nothing here, because the prices are leg buttons.

### Portfolio and the dock’s Positions tab

| Keys | What it does | Works in |
| - | - | - |
| `↑`, `↓` | Move the selection | Safe and Armed |
| `↵` | In Portfolio: show or hide the ladder of the row. In the dock: open the market | Safe and Armed |
| `E` | Exit the selected position, down to the exit price | Armed |
| `J` | Join: put a sell for the whole position at the best ask | Armed |
| `A` | Add: buy your stake at the best ask | Armed |
| `C` | Cancel your orders in the market of the selected position, in all its outcomes | Armed |

On the **Combos** tab of Portfolio, these keys work in Safe and in Armed, because a quote
trades nothing:

| Keys | What it does |
| - | - |
| `↑`, `↓` | Move the selection |
| `↵` | Show or hide the legs |
| `E` | Exit: get a quote for the combo in the slip |

### Orders and the dock’s Orders tab

| Keys | What it does | Works in |
| - | - | - |
| `↑`, `↓` | Move the cursor | Safe and Armed |
| `Space` | Select the row under the cursor, or clear it | Safe and Armed |
| `Ctrl A` | Select all the rows that you can see | Safe and Armed |
| `[` | Move the selected orders one tick down. With none selected, move the order under the cursor | Armed |
| `]` | Move the selected orders one tick up. With none selected, move the order under the cursor | Armed |
| `Delete`, `Backspace` | Cancel the selected orders. With none selected, cancel the order under the cursor | Armed |

### The combo slip

These keys act while the slip has focus. `Q` moves the focus to the slip.

| Keys | What it does | Works in |
| - | - | - |
| `Ctrl ↵` | Accept the live quote. It does not work in the first half second of a quote, or when less than 1 second is left | Armed |
| `Esc` | Decline the live quote | Safe and Armed |
| `↑`, `↓` | Move the leg cursor | Safe and Armed |
| `Delete`, `Backspace` | Remove the leg under the cursor | Safe and Armed |
| `1` to `6` | Pick a stake preset | Armed |

### The Alerts list (Safe or Armed)

These keys work in Safe and in Armed, because alerts never place or cancel orders.

| Keys | What it does |
| - | - |
| `↑`, `↓` | Move between alerts |
| `↵` | Edit the alert under the cursor |
| `P` | Pause the alert, or resume it |
| `Delete`, `Backspace` | Delete the alert. A toast gives you **Undo** |

## Good to know

* A panel key that you hold down acts one time only. It does not repeat.
* While a `g` pair waits for its second key, the trading keys do nothing. Thus `g` then `s`
  opens Settings and never sells.
* `Esc` closes an open dialog or menu first. Only after that does it remove a ladder cursor
  or decline a quote.
* **Settings › Hotkeys** shows the navigation keys. **Show all hotkeys** there opens the
  same list as `?`.
* On a phone, use the buttons and gestures. The panel keys need a keyboard.
